Serpico ★★★★½

Watching this again (for the 6th time, lol), I really appreciate how subtle yet effective the editing and cinematography decisions here are. Edits are especially noticeable during the scenes that emphasize the hopelessness of Serpico's situation when he's in the heat of it—exclamations of joy are cut off by further disappoints, etc.

You also get a good sense of how hierarchical and restrictive the police force is when dealing with corruption through the interesting ways the players (mainly high ranking members on the force) are filmed. It really illustrates how the film is just as much about systemic injustice as it is about corruption. It's so good y'all!!!
