I don’t know what’s wrong with me tonight, but this doc actually choked me up a couple of times.
Anyway. Really delightful. The interviews with the cast are interesting, and the more extreme fans they showcase are certainly fascinating. This breed of fanatic has somewhat died out. Or mutated, maybe. I like that the documentary just presents these people as they are, but generally there is a feeling of positivity, no matter how bizarre these folks come across.

Okay. I’m past not giving movies I love and that made a huge impact on me five stars.

Malignant lives in that silly realm embodied by amazingly outlandish stuff like Phenomena, and James Wan is so comfortable there. We’re fortunate to get movies like this from someone so blatantly not self-conscious about it. It’s a pleasure to see.
This features the Wan tradition of having an entire scene dedicated to the villain building/working on his weapon. I eat that stuff up! No Depeche Mode this time, though.
